What insurance plans do you accept?
Lotus Recovery Counseling accepts MaineCare (Medicaid) and several commercial insurance plans, billed through Health Affiliates Maine. If you’re unsure about your coverage, please contact us, and we'd be happy to help verify your benefits and discuss payment options.
Are sessions currently in-person or virtual?
Currently sessions are conducted via Telehealth using Zoom. This ensures accessibility, safety, and convenience for all clients. Instructions and a secure link will be provided prior to your session.
In-Person Sessions are available for students in their current school; for all others, In-Person sessions coming soon!
Do you offer self-pay options?
Yes, self-pay options are available for counseling and is required for DEEP assessments. However, self-pay is not available for individuals with Medicaid (MaineCare) or commercial/private health insurance, as those services must be billed through your insurance provider.
What are your hours of operation?
Our hours of operation are:
- Monday through Thursday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Friday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

DEEP (Driver Education and Evaluation Program) Services
- To get started, please contact the DEEP office at (207) 626-8600 and inform them you would like to use Lotus Recovery Counseling as your provider. Ask the DEEP office to send Lotus Recovery Counseling (April Szafranski) your paperwork. Please insure the DEEP office has your correct contact information.
- DEEP Assessment/Evaluation: This is an out-of-pocket expense as insurances do not pay for evaluations. The fee is $475.00 (payments accepted via Venmo only). The first appointment is not scheduled until the fee is paid in full.
- Once Lotus Recovery Counseling has received your paperwork, we will contact you to provide the documents requiring signature, information for payment, and schedule your first appointment.
- An Assessment/Evaluation consists of 2-4 sessions (determined by need and information provided) and includes a concerned person interview, urine drug screening and alcohol testing (supplies provided), and the completed Provider Evaluation Assessment submitted directly to the DEEP office. If it is determined you will need further counseling, you can either work with us or be provided a referral for a different counselor to meet the requirements of ongoing treatment.
